Welcome! My first blog!

I know there are a lot of people out there who use blogging to showcase their family (“Look what Genevieve did today!  She made a fart noise with her mouth!”), their business (it shocks me how creative and talented some people are) or their general point of view about everything.  In my blog, I do want to give my point of view, but more than anything, I want to try to figure out what are you thinking?

Each entry, I will choose a topic, person or idea and try to figure out its motivations.  Each time, I will ask, “What are you thinking?”  I often find myself wondering what must be going on inside someone’s head, and there are so many things to consider when asking this question.

I don’t plan to be negative every time.  I hope that, on occasion, I can choose someone who’s getting a lot of negative attention, and think about whether that person is as crazy or abhorrent as they seem.

Let’s use me as an example.  What are you thinking, Kayla, starting this blog?

I’ll be ridiculed!  I’ll be harassed for my beliefs, feelings and opinions!  I’ll be idolized by few, if any, readers!  How can anything positive come out of this effort?

I don’t know, we’ll see.  I’m thinking that I need a creative outlet, and I’d like to engage in a dialogue with more people than my one year old son and my husband.  And there are so many things to talk about, that surely I will hit upon something that will interest others.

I’m not looking for eternal Internet glory.  But wouldn’t that be nice?  I mean, just look at how that kind of fame worked for Al Gore.
